100% Prieto Picudo
Castilla y Leon, Spain
Grizzly Prieto Picudo is a red wine produced by Noelia de Paz in Valdevimbre, V.T. Castilla y León.
After more than 10 years producing wines in the area of Valdevimbre, in 2015, Noelia de Paz started her most personal project, Vinos la Osa. This is a series of wines made with indigenous varieties of the region, like Prieto Picudo and Albarín. She searches for collaborations in other areas, like the one with Rodrigo Méndez in Rías Baixas and Raúl Pérez in El Bierzo.
Noelia de Paz produces her wines in the winery Leyenda del Páramo, acquiring most of the grapes from small winemakers of Valdevimbre. Noelia herself selects the best plots and carries out an exhaustive quality control of the grapes.
Noelia de Paz shows us another way of making great wines, without their own wineries and vineyards, working with passion and knowing very well what they have in mind.
Prieto Picudo is planted at 800-900 meters to clay and white stone soils. Hand harvested, hand sorted, and 80% de-stemmed. Natural yeast fermentation for 25 days with daily pump over in tank. 30 day maceration. Aged 12 months in used 225 liter French barrels. 15% of previous vintage, aged in barrel, is blended in for balance. Organic.
Very intense and vivid garnet tones. Aromas of Plum, vegetables and toasts. On the palate you have fresh, long drink, leaving a good sensation on the nose.
