50% Syrah & 50% Cabernet Sauvignon
Crete, Greece
The Fragospito Vineyards take their name from a house that existed on the site in the 1700’s. The Syrah grapes are grown at an altitude of 1200 feet above sea level and the Cabernet Sauvignon at 900 feet above sea level. The soils are a clay and stone mix and are organically certified.
This wine has aromas of chocolate, herbs and spices in addition to red fruits. Medium tannins with a medium body, acidity and a lingering finish.
Each variety is harvested at night separately and undergoes its own vinification. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks with skin contact for approximately 23 days. After fermentation is complete, the wines from the two varieties are blended and then placed in stainless steel tanks for one year before being transferred to second use French oak barriques for 18 months before bottling.
