94% Cabernet Sauvignon & 6% Petit Verdot
Alexander Valley, California
In 1982, the family acquired a very special winegrowing corner of the Alexander Valley. Bordered on the east by the Russian River, our benchland vineyard is situated where the Alexander Valley, Russian River and Chalk Hill appellations come together. This Estate Cabernet Sauvignon was crafted using fruit from their finest benchland and hillside-grown blocks. Blended with a small amount of Petit Verdot to add color and depth, their Cabernet Sauvignon is a rich and approachable expression of its unique terroir.
The phenomenal 2018 vintage has delivered engaging aromas of black cherry, licorice, red and black currant, as well as more savory black olive, earthy forest floor and herbal hints adding nuance and intrigue. On the palate, you find a medium-bodied Cabernet with good natural acidity, velvety tannins and flavors of dark berries, crème de cassis, as well as layers of saddle leather, sweet oak and spice. Aged 18 mos in French oak, 45% new. Native fermentations (no addition of commercial yeast).
