100% Pinot Noir
Columbia Gorge, Oregon
Phelps Creek is nestles amongst the foothills of Mt. Defiance at 1200 feet elevation and is the most westerly vineyard on the Oregon side of the Columbian Gorge AVA. Established in 1990, their small boutique winery focuses on estate grown Pinot Noir and Chardonnay varietals, annually producing 5,000 cases of wine in total. Vineyard care takes center stage in their wine production, where sustainable agricultural practices combined with careful management of the fruit yields on the vines lead to the noted luxurious intensity within the bottle.
The perfect wine to describe their estate. Each block of Pinot Noir is harvested, fermented and barrel-aged separately, and only blended at the final tasting trial. Their ancient volcanic soils usher beautiful spice, while the high elevation brings brightness to their finished product.
This 100% Estate grown Pinot Noir combines 3 different clone selections Pommard, Dijon 115 & Dijon 777. Aged 11 mos in new and neutral French Oak barrels.
Polished acidity, the result of a Winemaker's restraint in ripeness, balances a rich nose of leather and tobacco. A palette of bright red fruits with a lush texture full of earth and spice notes, reflective of their volcanic soils.
