A Right Bank Bordeaux inspired wine with a merlot base and a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon from the esteemed Beckstoffer George III & Beckstoffer Orchard Ave Vineyards.

The 2020 Glass Fire devastated Napa Valley and nearly destroyed an entire vintage - After losing 80% of our fruit to smoke taint, we were lucky enough to bottle the remaining Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon from Beckstoffer Orchard Ave and George III Vineyards into this single offering commemorated with a flame in the label to remember the struggle for our entire community.

This blend produces a merlot of extraordinary density, with rich, chewy tannins. Holding the promise of a long evolution in bottle. It is balanced, juicy and approachable. Foundation is aged in 40% new thin staved 22mm tight grain French oak Taransaud barrels.

Our merlot vineyard provides small berries and clusters, which produce highly aromatic and well-structured fruit, perfect for our intentions. This matched with the lean soils help to produce intense, age-worthy wine with a complex fruit and mineral layer.

Generous Bing cherry and blackberry aromas along with hints of vanilla, nutmeg and cedar from the get-go. Juicy and lush upon entry with red & black fruits, creamy milk chocolate, velvety texture and a soft and supple tannin profile. The body is full & rich with such elegance and length- the fruit is fleshy and without being overripe.
