100% Sauvignon Blanc
Marlborough, New Zealand
“The Massey Ferguson Tractor is ingrained in rural New Zealand history. As kids, the farm was all about that big red tractor, the name was such a mouthful that from our earliest memories, it was known as the Massey Dacta.”
The color of freshly cut hay, with notes of pithy lemon and lime fresh off the homestead trees. Tropical getaway flavors of rock melon and passionfruit brought back to earth with lemongrass and a generous weighty mouthfeel. Classic Sauvignon Blanc from rural Marlborough, New Zealand.
Tractor driver/Winemaker: Ben Glover
12.5% ABV
In 1985, inspired by the pioneering efforts of other Marlborough mavericks, the Glover family converted their farm in Dillons Point to vine. Being a third generation farming family meant that there was a natural ability to see the potential in the land for vineyards and ultimately the production of world-class wine. In 2007 Owen and Wendy Glover’s passion for growing grapes finally overflowed into the desire to release their own brand – Zephyr, inspired by the prevailing wind that cools.
The Glover Family’s vineyard is located in the Dillons Point sub-region, of Marlborough. Only 3km from the sea, along the banks of the Opaoa River. The soils are fertile, Kaiapoi silt loam. But more importantly, is the whitebait running past the front door along with crayfish and paua a short ride on the Massey Ferguson 135 tractor down the road.
The vineyard is planted with Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Riesling and Pinot Noir. These are perfect wines to match to food we are lucky enough to forage from our farm surrounds.
Ben runs the family winemaking operation, Glover Family Vineyards, along with his wife Susie, their four (yes another lot of four) free range children. He is aided by his two youngest siblings, Lucy, her husband Francis, and Jack along with his partner Georgie, and all their brood, 9 in total.
