The 2018 Zinfandel offers deep, savory aromas of black cherry and plum with notes of vanilla, tobacco and dusty spice. Bright, brambly flavors of red raspberry and boysenberry unfold across a juicy texture with hints of cedar wood and black tea. Fresh acidity adds lift and structure to a sleek, peppery finish.
After fermentation and light pressing, the individual lots were racked to a combination of French and American oak barrels (25% new oak), where they aged for 17 months prior to blending and bottling. The barrels were minimally racked during aging to preserve varietal aromatics. Small lots of Petite Sirah and Syrah were incorporated into the final blend for enhanced depth, complexity and structure. 15.5% ABV.
