47% Sangiovese, 31% Merlot & 22% Montepulciano
Alexander Valley, California
The history of Italian style winemaking for the Trentadue family goes back several generations. In keeping with this tradition, they offer Cuvée 32, a rich and complex blend aged for 18 months in 32% new French oak barrels. Although enjoyable young, the great depth of fruit and firm, ripe tannins of this wine will make it worthy of cellaring. Cheers!
Winemaker Notes
This 2021 Cuvee 32 is the 24th vintage of this blend for Trentadue Winery. Every vintage has a uniquely different blend determined by the best expression of its components and how they work together. The winery's young Montepulciano has become an important player in the blend as well as their Brunello Clone Sangiovese. This vintage does not have Malbec in it or Syrah.
The 2021 Cuvee 32 has intense cherry/cassis aromas contributed by the Sangiovese followed by deeper red fruit aromas of plums, blueberry, and a hint of pomegranate. With more air the wine shows more complex yet still in developing stage aromas and flavors of cocoa, cinnamon, leather, and black licorice. The mouth feel is medium to full with relatively high, food friendly acidity and a long and fresh finish. Drink now through 2030.
