The Rocca di Castagnoli estate, in the magnificent village of Castagnoli (Gaiole in Chianti, Siena), has a wine relais for your holidays in Tuscany. Rooms and apartments with refined style for sleeping in the most authentic Chianti, made of rolling hills as far as the eye can see and ancient villages suspended in time.

“The 2017 Chianti Classico Riserva Poggio a'Frati is a heady, expressive wine that is just showing a hint of its potential. More than anything else, I am impressed with the wine's energy and vibrancy, which was a bit hard to come by in 2017. Bright, saline notes lift a core of sweet red berry fruit, chalk, white pepper, mint, sage and dried flowers. The flavors are so vivid in this super eloquent Riserva from Rocca di Castagnoli.”

The grapes from which this estate cru originates come from the area from which it takes its name, where some 15 hectares of vineyards surrounding a hill dominated by an old friars' convent have always been under cultivation. The soils are situated in a hilly area with an average altitude of 420 and vineyards facing north and south-east. The soils have a prevalent composition of Alberese and other limestone-clayey sequences.
